Special Xmas Club Run incorporating 'Freewheel Challenge'

Meet at Ditchling as usual at 9.00 a.m.

The emphasis for today’s pre-Christmas club run is fun.  We shall set off as normal but at the halfway point we shall take part in a ‘freewheel’ challenge.  This involves being pushed off at the start of a gentle downhill stretch of road and seeing how far you can freewheel before coming to a natural halt. The winner will receive a Nomads award at the annual award ceremony.

For this Christmas event participants are encouraged to wear Christmas clobber or adorn their bikes with Christmas tat (providing of course that such additions do not present any health and safety issues).  I understand that in previous years some people have managed to attach some sort of music playing device to their steed to play a selection of Christmas carols.  Prizes to be given to the best Christmas related outfit (please, no mankinis) and/or decorated bike.

It would be good to have enough photographic evidence of the event to embarrass/reward those taking part to please snap away.

Once we have completed the Freewheel Challenge we shall then make our way back to Ditchling for coffee/cake at Velusso.

Route  This is a relatively short and flat route.  We stop at the western end of Bob Lane and the Freewheel Challenge commences just around the corner on Twineham Lane.  I have communicated with Velusso about stopping there for coffee and cake but should it get really busy there (and the weather is poor), there are other cafes in Ditchling.
