Dear Nomads

After a few months off your weekly Nomads news is back – packed full of all the things that make it so readable… words, sentences and paragraphs. So what’s been happening to the Nomads recently…

Top of the Hill

Gemma returns from her recent hill-climbing holiday and training camp in Spain and notched up a win on last Saturday’s Sussex CA Steyning Bostal hill climb which left her several pounds lighter and £10 richer. Mike and Yuriy huffed, puffed and chuffed their way to a fine second place in the Lewes Wanderers ‘Grand Prix de Gentlemen’ and pocketed a cool £50 for their efforts on the same day, whilst on Sunday Helen and Gary got dirty in the mud at Happy Valley taking part in the cyclo-X organised by Preston Park Youth Cycling Club. Well done to all of them!

Enter now for the Sussex Nomads Hill Climb Championships

Thank you to all the Nomads who got in touch after last weeks shout-out for volunteers to help run the Ditchling Beacon hill climb on Sunday 29th October. Although we are still in need of a few more volunteers, what we are really short of is actual Nomads to take part! So far, only six Nomads have entered the event, which may mean that many of the prizes available go unclaimed. There are separate prizes for the first three senior and veteran men and women Nomads, and any Nomad juniors who enter. So if you’ve been umming and ahhing about whether to enter or not dither no more, click on this link and sign up now. You have until Tuesday the 17th to do so, but why leave it so late? Who knows, you may even set a new course record and have your time recorded on tarmac for all to marvel at!

Reminders: Membership & Kit

Just a reminder that your Nomads’ membership no longer needs renewing in October as it now runs until the end of the year. Derek will be in contact shortly with details about exactly how and when to re-new. Adrian will be sending off an order for our new Kalas kit next Tuesday, so please make sure you get orders in to him before then.

Coming Events

Thursday 5th October
7-8pm – Preston Park Chaingang – 1 hour of steady-paced training for keeping fit during the winter months. Great training for anyone who is thinking about racing next year, but sessions are open to all.

10am-2pm – Cyclo-X at Herne Hill Velodrome

Have great week – Alex
