Dear Nomads

Just a short newsletter to bring a few important items to your attention. However before I do that, I wanted to let you all know that we have received some feedback from a horse rider via facebook who encountered 2 Nomad cyclists whilst out riding on Sunday and she could not be more complimentary.  Her name was Anna-Marie and she sent the following message:  “Hello – would like to say *thank you* to the 2 lovely chaps cycling in Plumpton yesterday (Sunday) who passed us on our horses. They called out hello to us well in advance to approaching us from behind, slowed down and passed us wide and slow. Thank you very much – credit to your team.”   It’s always nice when people take the trouble to send good feedback like this, so well done whoever you were!

Also, congrats to the 13 Nomads who took part in Ride London last weekend.  The conditions turned out to be less than ideal, but it didn’t seem to dampen your spirits. Well done all!

Right, onto upcoming events.  I have set up a web page so you can reserve your tickets for the Nomads Anniversary Party (which is on 22nd Sept at Westmeston Parish Hall).  You can access it by clicking here, but I will also put a link to it on the front page of the Nomads site.  The tickets are £10 per person and included in the ticket price is food, soft drinks, a glass of champagne to toast the 40th anniversary and a live jazz band (provided by Ella Southgate and her jazz/bosa nova ensemble).  If you wish to consume additional alcoholic drinks, it will be on a ‘bring your own’ basis, so don’t forget to bring along wine/beers or whatever your favourite tipple is!  The evening will conclude around 11pm.  Once you have reserved your tickets via the web page, you will need to do a bank transfer to secure them (details on the web page).

Next up a message from Adrian about TT’s:

“The Club 25 mile TT this year will be held within the SCA 25, on 27th August 2018 bank holiday Monday, to be held on the G25/49. This is an Open event, so pre-entry is required  by 14th August 2018 using the CTT web site entry system, this event was favoured by the majority of members, over later events in the year.

The next Club event is the Clubs 5 Mile TT, being held on Saturday 8th September 2018 on the GS/980 Pyecombe to Henfield  course start time is 08:00 please sign on in road to Pyecombe village east of the A23 before 07:50.

Any one not riding and would like to help with the timekeeping or marshalling please let me know as soon as possible, agmorris@ntlworld.com

Lastly Steve Ratford has asked me to remind you all that it’s the pop up café ride this Sunday and that the route over to Bodle Street Green and back is a little longer than the usual club run, so make sure you have enough water/gels etc. to get you there, especially if it is warm. Our very own Helen Codling will be baking lots of lovely cakes for the event and the money goes to charity.

That’s all for now!

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Sally
