Dear Nomads

Happy New Year to you all, and welcome to the first Nomads Newsletter of 2018.

It was great to see so many new and familiar faces on yesterday’s club-run – many like me resembling capital ‘B’s’ on legs hoping to shed some weight in the New Year. One way you can quickly lose 20 pounds is by renewing your membership! You should by now have received an email from Derek detailing how you can renew – if you haven’t, please do get in touch. For the price of a single leg-warmer you get the opportunity to take part in 52 club runs! This equates to over 2080 miles of riding throughout the beautiful Sussex countryside; more than 6 days sweating in the saddle staring at the rhythmic undulating behinds of your fellow riders wondering whether you should point out that their lycra is wearing thin; and about 3 hours of waiting for your flapjack and coffee to come at ‘Billy’s On The Road’ in Billingshurst. What. A. Bargain.

Lewes  Wanderers Reliability Trial

On Sunday January the 28th  the Lewes Wanderers will be holding their annual ‘Reliability Trial‘. This is often well attended by Nomads, but there will also be a club run on the day for those of you not interested. In order for your ride to count towards the team prize please sign up online rather than on the day.

WhatsApp

Increasingly club discussions between members are taking place on WhatsApp – with the number of groups growing weekly. There are groups dedicated to those that like to race (e.g. Cyclocross and Road racing), for trips (e.g. ‘2019 Ventoux trip’) as well as other niche activities (e.g. Time Trialling). Although the main WhatsApp group was recently targeted by a ‘Porn-Bot’ (aka the ‘Tymchenko virus’) the application is on the whole safe and simple to use. If you want to find out more please do get in touch.

That’s it I’m afraid – have a lovely week – Alex
